Final Exam BOOK 3 REVIEW

The Book, The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy is about Arthur’s planet being destroyed and escaping from the aliens that pose a threat on humans. The aliens think that humans are dangerous and they can kill them and bring down their race.
This book is very unique hence it uses many wired phrases and words such as the Vogon's Language. The plot is very hard to follow because it talks about wired names such as Ford Perfect. I thought that Ford Perfect was the name of a car. I was wrong and realized that he was an alien who had been living on Earth for some time. Also some people were destroying Arthur Dent's home. They said they were destroying it to make way for a route to a foreign galaxy. I found out later that they were aliens??? Also Arthur and Ford thought that they were going to die, but later I found that The Heart Of Gold saved them. I thought this was an idiom. I later found out that it was a space ship.
The Vogons talked like, "okkoo oo ol luu suu guuuuuuuuup lllloo o oo goo oo oo pp ppo oorr rr r." Arthur couldn't understand what they were saying then it was SCI-FI because Ford gave Arthur a fish and it translated everything. Arthur and Ford and Zaphoid (owner of The Heart Of Gold) then went to this planet. This is also a wired part because Arthur saw a whale forming a crater opening the land. This made no sense at first but then Arthur Met this Old Guy. They go deep in the planet. It was pitch black in the planet. They get captured by aliens. They escape and go into the planet and discover thousands of planets. This was ironic. Then they arrive at the restaurant on the other side of the Galaxy.
Ford is the person who was the Alien and He wrote the Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It was an e-book. It was weird because it explained all about the Galaxy.
The book had Unhelpful tips from the author as soon as you open the book. The tips were really helpful. Without some of the tips, the book would not have been easy to read. Some tips were funny. For example, “If you want to go to the Space to explore the Hitch Hiker’s galaxy, Call President Obama. His Number is 777-888-9960. If he doesn’t listen call your mom. If she doesn’t listen call NASA. Their Number is 888-999-0089." This is the only part that is humorous in the book. The other parts in the book are very serious. This also contributes to the b oaring theme of the book.
This book was very boring as it was very lengthy. Also it was hard to understand as the author kept using sarcasm. I was not used to reading sarcastic books. Also, the book was about 5% humorous. This book is a waste of your money like THE LEMON TREE! It rambles on and on.

Once you read, you will feel a pain like sensation. And the next thing will be, “When will I ever be done with this book!” If you still want to read, go ahead but remember, there’s no money back guarantee. If I were to give the book a letter grade, I would give it an F-. That is if it exists.

The true book can have some lies in it to be considered non-fiction. Like 95 percent of the book needs to be true and the other 5 percent can be lies. In history books having something not true is not okay as the information needs to be 100 percent accurate. Also, if a doctor is performing a surgery and his handbook is made up of half-truths, the patient could get a wrong treatments or the operation might be messed up. In turn, the patient could die from any complication. The author and the doctor could be held responsible for this and they both can suffer the consequences as the patient’s family can sue the doctor and the author.

Half-truths are ok if it is a good story. As long as the half-truths make the story good or help it in some way they are okay. If the half-truths are very dramatic and do not fit in the book, they are not okay. David Shields is correct. We need lines between genres and we need to label something as non-fiction or fiction for what we label the book as makes a huge difference. For example, if you label a fictional book as a nonfictional one, the reader would be angry as it is not true. If you were to label a nonfictional book as fictional, the reader would see that the whole book is real and true. The reader therefore would be mad as well.

THE DAVINCI CODE:A film maker would have a challenge in adapting the police chase scene. This is the part when the police track down Sophie and Landgon and try to stop them from reaching the embassy. TThis is challenging because the scenes keep changing very quickly.
3 Scenes that must be in the movie are:
The currator'sdeath and  message that says to find Landgon as it adds to the suspenseful theme in the novel. For example, the police were planning to arrest Landgon, but he didn't know this until Sophie came into play. Without the currator dying, there would be no story.
The soap scene- When Sophie sticks the tracking device on to the soap and puts it in the trash can and throws it at the truck. This should be in the movie as there would be a lot of humor when the police find the soap.
When they are at the bank, the police get them surrounded. They sneak into the truck trailer of Sophie's grandpa's friend and they move out. This evokes a lot of suspense when the police get them surrounded as they try to escape. But they manage to escape.

2 specific points to cut:

1. I will cut out the scene when Langdon explains the secret society to sophie because there would be no way to show that on the screen.
2. I will cut out the flashback scene when Sophie was 8 years old as it is not important to the book in any way.

BOOK ONE PROJECT on The Curious Incident Of The Dog In the Night Time By: Mark Haddon

My idea is to put a limited edition letter that Christopher's mom wrote to him in the book as it's one of the most pivotal moments in the book. This will attract more and more people to read the book and help the Publishing Industry. This would attract more and more people because it’s a collectable.
This is an important part in the book because he gets the idea to go and live with his mom after his dad lied that his mom had died. This is also the part when he goes in the subway and trains, and he tries to escape the policemen who try to bring him back to his dad. The fans would love the letter idea as it is a souvenir collectible and as Christopher uses it to go find his mom. One letter in the Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time said, “When you are small you wouldn't let anybody put their hand in your mouth, so that the dentist can take one of your teeth out “. Christopher saw that the date on the letter was 23rd August of the same year. Therefore, he thought that the letter was written very recently. Therefore, he knew that his mom was still alive.  This is how he came to know that his father had lied to him. His father caught him reading a letter that his mother wrote. In the book, the Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time, his father said, “I did it for your own good….. and I said that she was in the hospital….I knew it was a lie…..she actually ran away….. I didn't know how to explain it to you at that time.” His father became very emotional when he found Christopher having the letters that his mom wrote him. His dad did not want him to read those letters until he was a older person.
When Christopher realized that his father had lied to him he goes to school but his dad had parked his car at the school. In the book “The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time” says, “I couldn't go to school because when I got to school I saw that father’s van was parked outside in the car park. I knew it was his van because it said ED BOONE Heating Maintenance and boiler repair on the side. He went to the train station to ride a train to his mother’s residence.”. This shows Christopher’s ambitions in going away from his dad’s home. If his mom had not written him the letters, he would not have known where to go. He also would not have known that his dad lied to him. Therefore, this is a key event in the book.
I think this idea will work because the letter contributes to the plot in many ways. If the letter did not exist then Christopher could not have gone to his mom’s residence. This is very important too because he would not have known the truth what had happened to his mother. So the letters will bring together an innumerable amount of fans. It would be favored because the letter is the heart of the mystery and it would be solved very quickly and people will enjoy having the physical letter in their hand when reading a book as it brings together the truth in paper. The idea will help broaden the audience for the book  by making it more interactive and it also adds a sense of pizzazz to the writing.
The idea allows and encourages people who are already fans of the book to better understand the mystery in the novel. This will also help them to get a better sense of the plot and they can also understand why his dad didn’t want him to read the letter.

What is a book ?

A book is a dream. A book is a place that is magical. You get to write in the book. You also get to highlight information on the book. When you are reading on a phone or a kindle, you are prone to playing games and getting distracted. This is why, I always read a book. I don't like to use electronics when reading because they are distracting and complicated to use.
I agree with  Nancy Jo Sales.

She says,"Would my life in books have been the same if they had been coming to me via Kindle or iPad? I don't think so. There's something about the physicality of a book, the way it looks and feels and even smells--the notes written in the margins--that makes it a living, breathing companion (who, like yourself, is actually dying). I don't think books will ever disappear for this reason: We need them too much. They remind us that we exist; they show us how we have lived."
Evidence: The memory that you share with books are real. If books get replaced with the electronic ones, it would never be the same as a paper book. The electronic book wouldn't have notes in the margins to help you understand the text better. This is why paper books are important.
                                I hate Joe Meno.
                                He says:

"The Kindle, the iPad, these are just variations of a need we have as a civilization, as a species, to use our imagination, and this need is as important in this time as any other."
WHY I HATE HIM: I hate him because his definition of books are wrong. Sitting on a screen and reading a book specifically makes a huge change. There are many distractions when you read a book on a screen compared to reading the book it self. If you read it on the phone, you will get a call and get distracted. On kindle, YOU WILL BE TEMPTED TO PLAY GAMES ON THE DEVICE.

To sum up, reading a physichal copy of a book is better than reading a book on kindle, or other electronic devices.

Why I read

I read because it is a fun way to spend my time when I am bored. I also read because of the adventures that are invoked when I am reading. I like reading mystery books, adventure books, historical fiction, nonfiction, fiction, biographies, and finally, autobiographys. Each book unleashes a new adventure!
